Hi Kate, I have been reading about this recall and believe these caps to have been used during my two surgeries. I have no reason to think my system was affected, but I think the issue is an important one. It is something to consider-- with regard to the manner with which such important information is shared and how we are informed as patients. It is stunning that we are learning about this, though I am glad that we are at least hearing about it, through our fellow patients or patient advocate organizations, but not directly from the health care professionals or Medtronic company. I would like to see the procedures for such issues tightened up. If the FDA is going to make such declarations, then they also need to require a minimum quality of communication. If my brain were a car, I think I would have been told to bring her in for servicing! Thanks for posting this information on your blog!
