The House is Empty Now by Tom Kelsall
I miss her big smile, bark and wagging tail at the front door each day after work.
I miss the walks in the park and her constant sniffing. Her nose surely knows.
I miss her playfulness and fetching her red ball.
I miss her supervising me while I was mowing the lawn and shoveling snow.
I miss giving her a belly rub.
Thank you, sweet Oreo, for your gentle, loving and playful companionship and for being my shadow for the past nine years.
The house is empty now.
Dear Kate and Tom,
I’m so sorry for your loss. You gave Oreo a good, long and happy life and had the courage and love to let her go when her body couldn’t carry her anymore. My thoughts are with you.

The death of a beloved pet is every bit comparable to the loss of family member. I empathize with your loss, Kate and Tom, and know too well that how great it is. Hopefully, the knowledge that you gave Oreo a wonderful life on this earth will give you some peace.

Losing a pet is like losing a family member. It's our nature to be really attached to our pets and it hurts deeply when we lose them.
