April 1st marks April Fool’s Day, but we’re not fooling. April is Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month.
Diane Cook of Denver is also not fooling in her roles as Co-Founder and Co-Leader, Parkinson's Disease Support Group for the Recently Diagnosed; Clinical Research Liaison, Parkinson's Disease Foundation; and Senior Patient Advocate, ProjectSpark Foundation.
Leave it to a busy person like Diane to find the time to encourage John Hickenlooper, the mayor of the City and County of Denver, to issue a Proclamation that April 2010 be designated as Parkinson’s Awareness Month.
Way to go, Diane Cook and
Mayor Hickenlooper!!
Breaking News: For the first time, the U.S. Senate has designated April as Parkinson's Awareness Month. This action signifies the importance of Parkinson's Disease, and recognizes Congress' commitment to finding better treatments and a cure for Parkinson's Disease.
Thanks to the actions of Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Mike Johanns (R-NE), and Mark Udall (D-CO), this designation is now a national reality.
Congratulations. Bravo.

I appreciate your kind words, Kate, But more importantly, thanks for getting the word out about Parkinson's Awareness Month. Thanks, too, for all you do EVERY month for Parkinson's awareness!
